Business Verification

Purpose

Business verification establishes the legal and operating reality of a company before a relationship begins. It answers the threshold questions on which every later check depends: does the entity exist, in what form, in which jurisdiction, under whose control, and with what standing to conduct the activity in question.

Scope

• Legal registration: registered name, number, form, status and registered address, confirmed against the jurisdiction's company register.
• Licensing: licences and registrations required for the stated activity, confirmed against the licensing authority's records where accessible.
• Officers and standing: recorded directors and officers, and any recorded disqualifications or strike-off actions.
• Operating indicators: recorded trading address, filings history and publicly recorded operating signals.

Sources

Company registers, licensing authorities, court and gazette records and licensed data, each finding cited to its source.

Deliverables

A verification report stating each item checked, the source consulted, the result and the date of the check, in a format suitable for onboarding and audit files.

Limitations

Business verification confirms recorded status against the sources consulted at the date of the check. It is not an assessment of financial condition and does not predict future conduct. Where the relationship warrants more, see enhanced due diligence.
