Standards
Standards development process
Standards are developed by the Standards and Integrity function and, in most cases, opened for consultation before adoption.
1. Identification
A need for a new standard, or a revision to an existing one, is identified through registry operations, due diligence practice, or recognition activity.
2. Drafting
A draft is prepared by the Standards and Integrity function and published with draft status in the standards catalogue.
3. Consultation
The draft is opened for consultation for a defined period. See open consultations for how to submit comments.
4. Adoption
Following consultation, the standard is adopted, assigned an effective date, and its status is updated to current.
5. Review
Each standard carries a scheduled review date. A standard may be revised, superseded, or withdrawn following review.
