Sets the assignment, format, persistence and display requirements for the 1Cert Identifier assigned to every registry record.
Scope
Applies to every entity record and credential record published in the 1Cert.org registry.
- Assignment. One 1Cert Identifier is assigned to each entity record and each credential record at first publication. An identifier is assigned once and is never reassigned.
- Format. The canonical format is 1C-XXXX-XXXX: eight characters from A–Z excluding I and O and digits 2–9, in two groups of four, the final character being a check character computed over the preceding seven under ISO/IEC 7064 MOD 37-2. The machine format strips the hyphens.
- Persistence. The identifier survives every status change of its record, including revocation and withdrawal.
- Display. Every published record and verification result displays the identifier in canonical format.
